12 Questions And Answers About Riders Republic

This post will be updated once more questions and answers about Riders Republic are available.

Announced back in early September 2020, Ubisoft’s new sports game, Riders Republic, is set to deliver a massive open world for the players to explore and compete with each other.

Known as Steep’s spiritual successor, Riders Republic promises to take the whole sports game to a whole another level. With up to 4 rides at launch (and more expected in the future), massive races of 50 players competing simultaneously, and new systems that will make the social experience unique.

Riders Republic is set to offer a lot of action, social interactions, and funny fails. Here are 12 questions and answers about Riders Republic, Ubisoft’s upcoming sports game.

What is Riders Republic?

Riders Republic (or RR) is an action-sports open-world massive multiplayer game developed by Ubisoft Annecy and published by Ubisoft. It launches with 4 main activities; mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding, and wingsuit flying.

The world of Riders Republic consists of 7 distinct American national parks, including Yosemite Valley and Canyonlands. Players will be able to compete in multiplayer matches of up to 50 players or as low as 12 players.

Is Riders Republic Map Bigger Than Steep?

Although we don’t have the exact figures, we can tell that Riders Republic’s map is definitely bigger than Steep’s. With up to 7 American national parks combined into one map, there will be plenty of room for the riders to explore.

Each one of these 7 national parks offers a different set and visual characteristics, therefore a fresh experience depending on the ride/activity you choose.

Is Riders Republic Free-roam?

Yes, you can roam free RR as much as you want. The open-world offers beauty spots, landmarks as well as wildlife.

The free-roam will also allow the riders to discover some abandoned relics all over the world, which might hold some type of reward for discovering them.

When And Where Will Riders Republic Be Available?

According to Ubisoft, RR is set to be released sometime in 2021, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, and Stadia.

Ubisoft delayed the release of Riders Republic until late 2021-2022.

Is Riders Republic Coming To Nintendo Switch?

As of writing this post, Ubisoft hasn’t announced if RR is coming to Nintendo Switch. However, the game could be ported over eventually but it’s unlikely that it will support more than 20 player races.

Does Riders Republic Offer A Free Upgrade To PS5 & Xbox Series X?

Yes, Ubisoft confirmed that RR supports a Free Upgrade to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. So if you still haven’t purchased your next-gen console, you can play the game on your current console and play the improved version when you make that purchase decision.

It’s worth mentioning that the game will support 60 FPS on both PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Can You Play Riders Republic Without An Internet Connection?

Riders Republic store pages on PlayStation and Xbox state that it’s single-player with an optional online mode. This could be good news for players who just want to free-roam and play through the activities alone.

However, we’re not sure yet if the single-player also requires an internet connection, but with the whole aspect of social interactivity the game has to offer, it likely will!

What Are The Available Editions For Riders Republic?

Riders Republic comes in 3 editions, Standard, Gold and Ultimate.

  • Standard Edition – $59.99
    – The base game.
  • Gold Edition – $99.99
    – The base game.
    – Year 1 Pass (eight exotic kits, BMX Sport add-on, 7 days early access to all kits, and the BMX add-on).
  • Ultimate Edition – $119.99
    – The base game.
    – Year 1 Pass (same as the Gold Edition)
    – 4 exclusive style packs.

A pre-order of any of these editions will get you a custom Bunny outfit and snowboard graphic.

Which Riders Republic Edition Should I buy?

Choosing between the available editions is totally up to you, the player. Ubisoft Annecy said that RR will be supported post-launch with additional content, it’s uncertain if some of this content will be free or all paid DLC.

We encourage you to wait for more content (videos, info, and possibly beta) before you make any purchase decision.

Are There Microtransactions In Riders Republic?

While it hasn’t been confirmed how the players can unlock in-game content, it’s likely that RR will have some type of store where you can trade your in-game currency (or real money) for cosmetics.

A pay-to-win system could ruin the fun factor this game aims to deliver, so we hope Ubisoft won’t go down that road!

What Are Riders Republic PC Requirements?

As of writing this post, the PC requirements for RR haven’t been published yet. We will update this section once the developers release more information.

Will Riders Republic Use Dedicated Servers?

Supporting massive races up to 50 players is not going to be that easy on the connectivity side. In an interview with Igor Manceau, creative director for Riders Republic, he stated that the game’s online features are “built on Ubisoft’s dedicated game server tech which ensures high-quality connectivity between players.”

We hope that means less to no “connect to host” messages the fans got used to on Steep.
